SUMMARY OF MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 11, 2009 @ HT GRILL FOLLANSBEE,WVa.

The first quarter EBM was called to order by President Harry Matheny.
There were eighteen members in attendance.

Minutes of last meeting and treasurer’s report were both read and approved. Old business
covered at this meeting included the continuation of the newsletter, Biker Bulletin.
Rick “Julio” Chapmin will be writing a safety article monthly and will slowly take
over the newsletter.
Mike Buege will aid as an administrator. It will be necessary to locate a printer
to layout and print the publication.
The possibility of billboards, road signs, and/or bumper stickers were discussed.
At the July, 2008 EBM, Joe Tyree informed the board money was available through the
state to pay for motorcycle safety advertisements. It was decided to purchase reflective
bumper stickers. ABATE patches were discussed. It was deemed necessary to locate any
patches still in stock at the local chapter level and to possibly order more for
future members.
Pocket size copies of the Constitution are available and it was suggested we provide
every new member with a copy. New business included a review of proper meeting procedures.
It was decided the Secretary will provide tentative meeting agendas two - three weeks prior
to the upcoming EBM so that all members planning to attend the meeting will have
ample to submit subjects for the agenda to the president and will be able to prepare
any information they need for the upcoming meeting.Trying to grow the organization was
also covered. Help from established chapters and the state officers will be available.
It was also decided to lower yearly membership dues. Dues will now be $15.00 for an
individual and $25.00 per couple. It was the board’s intent, that during these tough
economic times, that ABATE still be an affordable organization.Converting the
newsletter to online was also discussed in an attempt to lower administrative costs.
The next EBM is scheduled for Mountain Fest in Morgantown, WV.
The meeting is tentatively schedule to be held at the Golden Corral at 1:00 pm
